Day 308 - Loop 360 Celebrates the Season

Loop 360 is a very scenic road around Austin.  Along the road are some evergreen trees which people sneak out to decorate every Christmas.  It makes me smile.  I saw my first one today so I thought I would share.  I am including a picture from the road that I took this weekend as well.

Day 307 - Austin Morning Special

On my way home from the airport this morning, the sky was just spectacular at sunrise.  I took this shot from the observation area off of Loop 360 in Austin overlooking the downtown.  If you look closely on the left, you can see the dome of the Capitol building and on the right is the Frost Tower.

In Response to the Daily Shoot Prompt,  "The dictionary defines a vista as a pleasing view. Make a photo of a vista that pleases you today. "

Day 306 - High Five for those that Serve

Went to the Chuy's Parade today.  When the National Guardsmen came by, everyone started clapping.  A little boy sitting on the curb reached out to high-five one of the men in uniform.  I liked the moment.  Thanks to everyone in uniform that is serving our country and may be away from home for the holidays.

Day 304 - Reflect and be Thankful

Sit and take some time today to reflect on all those people and things (positive or negative) that make you who you are. Be thankful.  Mom & Dad, miss being with you today.  Thanks for always making a big deal about holidays when I was young!

These shots were taken in the park before the expected cold front.

Day 303 - Holiday Flights

Glad I am home..but safe travels to all of you who are traveling!  Little tough with the Bokeh kit tonight with my new camera especially without my remote shutter and tripod...but I will get better

Took this as a result of the Daily Shoot Prompt, "!Illustrate the process or thought of traveling today, possibly by documenting your own travels."

Day 301 - Hidden Bugs

So, this flower is the first thing I saw when I jumped out of my car at the lake today...didn't see the "bugs" until I downloaded the pictures (may want to enlarge the picture to see).  I love surprises!

Day 299 - Unremarkable

No computer, and the only pictures are from my iPhone.  Today was just cleaning, cooking..and laundry for everyone.  No fun.  Not much of a Saturday.  Hard to believe it is this time in the evening and don't know where the day has gone.

Time to write this day off early and hope for a better tomorrow.  Day 299 was unfortunately unremarkable.

Day 288 - Top of the Hill

Went out for my morning run. I got to the top of the hill and noticed how beautiful the sky was with the sunrise.  So I ran home, jumped in my car and returned with my camera.  It was worth it, but I do hope I get to finish that run today sometime!

Day 287 - The Buck (and the doe) Stops Here!

This morning, as I was returning in the dark from my run, a large buck and a doe were laying in my front yard.  Had no camera with me.  However, as I left for work, they were still there and both stopped at the top of my driveway for a "photo opportunity".

Day 286 - Catching the Moment

I took this picture mid-morning at the park.  I liked the way the sunlight was lighting this flower.  I used my 55-200 mm lens which was all I had handy.  Within minutes of taking this picture, the flower was completely in the shade.

Day 285 - Candy Cocktail

I haven't done a great job keeping up with my weekend "Photo Challenges", but I am going to kick off the weekend back into gear.  The http://photos.vfxy.com/themes/ challenge this week is "CANDY".  I found these lovely licorice candies today for my husband at Sprouts.  Being that I wasn't able to sleep, I thought I would shoot some pictures.  The backlight in this picture was my laptop screen.  I liked the effect that the backlight had on the glass.  I edited the photo with a little "soft focus".

Going to take some time getting use to some of the new features, for sure!

Day 281 - First Love

Today, my new D7000 came in.  I thought it would be fitting for the first picture I took from this camera would be of my Nikon D60.  Some people ask if I was going to sell this camera, and I am not sure how I could.  This camera is amazing and selling it would be like selling a part of myself.  So, my D60 will remain in my camera bag (and used) for years to come!

Day 280 - Time Passing

So many time constraints that we live with.
My twenty year-old alarm clock has been a part of it all.
I wanted a new alarm clock to sync my iPhone, but I think I will stick with the tradition
of this simple clock who has been by my bedside for so many years.
