Day 539 - Morning Meditation

I knew it was a tough week ahead, so headed to my favorite pond this morning with my coffee.

Day 538 - The Pool is Closed

The three lifeguards are home for the evening.

Day 537 - Patient Fisherman...Waiting....

Got a few with him and his catch, but unfortunately the "catch" was a bit out of focus.

Day 536 - Portrait Seminar

Attended a two photography seminars today, one a "short course" on using speedlights outside and the other in indoor portrait fundamentals.  Good information in both.  It was fun to get to shoot with studio lights since I don't have any.  I actually got to learn some new settings on my camera as well as shoot a few shots with the Nikon 85mm 1.4 Lens (sweet!).  Here is a shot I took with that lens during the studio session.

Glad some part of my day was productive and interesting.

Day 535 - Mom's Monks

My mom's favorite salt and pepper shakers from my youth shot with candlelight highlights (never noticed that one had shoes and one did not until this picture).

Thanks to my co-worker, Jim, who surprised me with some sweets today for helping him out.  While I appreciate the thanks, he works harder than anyone I know!

Day 530 - Livin' in Lizard Heaven

Went to Zilker Gardens after my run to do a little more macro practice in manual mode, but with all the 100 degree heat we have had and absolutely no rain, not much of in the way of flowers.  However, at least the lizards were plentiful!

Day 522 - Weathered Wing

Taken this morning at Mayfield Park.  Note to self....do not drink two cups of coffee prior to shooting macro shots.  Lots of camera shake going on in my photos from today! 

Liked this one best of a dragonfly who so nicely posed for me.  The number of green tones going on in this photo is topped off by the color of the dragonfly's eyes.

My camera was nearby as always, so I thought I would take a break from my work and take a few shots.  I really like the bokeh on this one using my 35mm 1.8 lens.

Day 17 of triple digit temperatures.  On a drive down I35 for a business meeting, I noted some darkening skies that showed some promise of rain.  Thought I would capture the moment.  Unfortunately, this first day of summer, it blew by yielding none of that promising moisture.

I had never been to the "Skateboard Park" that the city open a while back.  However, after my morning run around the lake, I took a different route home.  I passed the park which was extremely busy.  I had my camera, so I turned around and thought I would take some shots.  I like this one as with the slightly blue background, it almost looks like he is surfing.

It was fun!  Nice people and lots of action.  I will be back for sure!

Day 508 - Instinct....

I loved how this little girl was gently brushing the hair of the little boy next to her, trying to get his attention.  Very cute.

Day 507 - Lost

A single sock and shoe left on a park bench beside a playground.

It made me smile as I remember those days as if they were yesterday.

Day 505 - Afternoon Wade

I hate taking pictures at the noon hour.  However, yesterday, when I was exercising around a small lake at lunch in 100 degree heat (my punishment for not working out before work), I saw this bird.   No camera....but liked the bird.  Today on my way back from lunch with a co-worker (Thanks, Teri!)....I had my camera...and there was the bird.  I don't love the picture, but love the bird.

Worked on a project last week that wasn't easy. A nice surprise today was the vendor I worked with sent me "thank you" flowers. Very nice.

Stopped at Zilker Gardens after dropping my daughter off at the airport for her senior trip with my macro lens.  Played around with the free "light meter" AP on my iPhone. Works pretty good.  I am impressed overall with my first time using it.  Committed to using it more this week when shooting.  

Now, on to some graduation festivities!

Day 491 - "I knew him when"

My daughter graduates from high school tomorrow.  Tonight, we went to a senior celebration and had to snap a shot of Malcom.   He is so much fun, and I think he is a great talent who I just recently got to know. Good luck with your internship, and I think you will do great...which is why this day is ..."I knew him when."
