Day 235 - Where did that come from?

We had so much rain the last few weeks, the ground is so wet.  As I pulled out of my driveway this morning, I spotted this mushroom growing at the top of the driveway.

Day 233 - Gingerbread Men Waiting....

Long day at work, summer is ending, kids are in school...then I found these cookie cutters in my kitchen, and it made me smile. Grabbed my camera and that red gel I hadn't used and snapped this shot.  Headed into fall and into the holidays thankful for all that I have.  Looking forward to the first REAL cool front!

Day 232 - Soakin' Up the Sun

Had to get out of the office for a bit.  Took a quick walk around the lake with my camera.  It is still REALLY warm (92 degrees) with high humidity.  However, this little guy was enjoying the warmth.  I really like the background colors in this shot.  Kind of makes me think fall is coming.

Day 231 - Oh that Orange Glow!

The Tower on the Unversity of Texas campus is lit up in "orange" after the win over Wyoming. Looks pretty against the morning sky as I head out to the "stadium cleaning" event.

Day 229 - Homemade Bokeh

Saw this on one of my favorite photography tips sites, thought I would try it.
That was FUN!  I love Fridays!

Note to self:  Need fast lens, right size model on the lens "cap", and a single source light in dark area.

Day 228 - Missed You Today

It is 11:00 PM and with a crazy day at work and at home, just figured out I didn't take a photo today.  So, with my iPhone, I took a picture of one of "my best friends" who I neglected today!  Glad tomorrow is Friday!

Day 227 - Catnap Dreams

So I was feeling ill this morning and decided to work from home this rainy Wednesday.

While I was working on my computer and noticed how Simba decided to deal with the day...

"Nice!"

Day 226 - Go Ahead...JUMP!

Tropical storm Hermine is dropping lots of rain on Central Texas as we head back to work.  A good excuse to wear my rainboots!

Day 222 - Memories of my Grandmother's Kitchen

Grandma's Rolling Pin

Shot inspired by the DailyShoot prompt: "Make a photograph of one of the least expensive things that you cherish." ( Note...my grandmother would have hated plastic cutting boards, but it was a better photo than on my wood block...)

Day 216 - The Backyard

(taken with iPhone)
Went to see Colbie Caillat and Sheryl Crow tonight at the Backyard.

Day 214 - Morning Surprise

Taking the trash to the curb early this morning, and this little guy jumped out from under one of the bins.  I was the one that did some jumping then !

Day 213 - Kitchen Tools

Took this shot (with a blue gel) in response to the following Daily Shoot prompt:

"Make a photo of a tool today. Screwdriver. Pliers. Computer. What's the tool you find most important on a daily basis?"

I work on a computer all day, but look forward to getting home and spending time in the kitchen.  LOVE my knives...so they win as my favorite tool on a daily basis!

Day 212 - Third Most Wired City....

...and the school district sends home at least 10 forms for each kid (many the same)...and half of them I don't need to fill out as I don't qualify.  Are there some people at the district who can do the calculations here?  Perhaps I am just bitter as I wish summer was not over.

Took this shot at 7:30 am on some cliffs overlooking Lake Austin and Loop 360 in response to the Daily Shoot assignment...

Day 204 - Sometimes, a "C" job just has to do...

So, my computer went DOA on me tonight, and couldn't download pictures.
but in the spirit of the challange, I am downloading one picture of a flower that I took today on an old laptop we have.  Don't necessarily love it, but sometimes a " C" job just has to do.  Hope to get my computer back up and working tomorrow!

Best Wishes to Kyle and Stephanie....your wedding was wonderful!

Day 201 - Morning at Mayfield Park

I love this place.  It is very peaceful this Friday morning before work with the sounds of peacocks and water in the pond.  Nice...very nice.  I had a Daily Shoot Challenge to use my wide angle lens, so I used my 35mm, 1.8 on this shot.  Happy Friday!

Day 200 - Trapped!

Not really...just peaking between the chair!

Monday, August 9, 2010

Day 197 - Cookies and Milk

One of my weekend challenges was "food".  If you have ever tried to shoot food, you know it is not as easy as you think.  I came up with this idea coming home from work.  Not sure it is a great shot, but I still like the idea!

Got me thinking...just 142 Days until Christmas!

Day 191 - Creature on My Car

Coming back from my early AM ride from the pool, my son noticed this bug on my car's mirror.  Having my camera (and bag with my 105mm Macro Lens), thought I would get a few shots.  I am including two different shots.  I really kind of like the backlighting with the silhouette.

1/60s, f/3.5, ISO 200 (with flash)

1/500s, f/5.6, ISO 125

Day 189 - Sunday Morning Waterfall

Just got a new 35mm - f 1.8 Lens and thought I would try some waterfall pictures this morning.
Armed with my tripod and remote shutter release, I headed off to the prehistoric gardens at Zilker Park at 7:00am to get the best light.  I really played around with my camera settings and also did a few "automatic" for comparison.  May be posting those results on my "Just Shoot Me" photoblog later.

This was shot at shutterspeed of 2.5 at f/22.0 with an ISO of 100.

I think I am going to like this new lens!
