A very shallow depth of field with my macro lens with this small white flower makes it look like it is "floating".

Day 393 - Staying True to the Goal

Today, work was busy and there was a pasta party at my house tonight for the LCA Swim Team. I should have shot some pictures there, but I was busy. So, looks like the only pictures I took today were with my iPhone getting a serial number off someone's computer. practical, but not artistic!  Lesson learned, shoot early on days like today!

It's a minute or so short of midnight, and I have not taken my picture today.
So, thought these lovely yellow roses given to me by a friend would serve as the photo of the day.

Yes, as this long three-day weekend comes to a close, I realize that all those ideas I had for how much I was going to get done have come to a halt and some will not be.  However, it was a fun weekend, and I am happy to have been flexible enough to enjoy it!

Day 377 - "Senior Moment"

The "title" of this picture usually is used by someone my age when they forget something.  But tonight, I was at my daughter's last regional high school meet.  I caught this picture of one of the other seniors in a quiet moment before her event.  I know so many of the seniors are so excited about what is ahead (and they should be), but I know they also realize the things they leave behind.  I have loved following the team the past four years.  You all are amazing.  Thanks for sharing your sport with me.

The snow is gone, and it was a sunny, mild morning.  Headed to Mayfield Park with my 70-200 VR Lens to see if I could catch a few song birds.  I love shooting birds, you have to be so patient. Seems you would really need a 400 to 500 zoom if you were seriously wanting to capture birds or other wildlife.  It is really tough shooting "up" to get the lighting right, and to avoid branches in the way.  This male cardinal was quite cooperative!

Day 375 - Snow Day

It rarely snows in Central Texas, but it did last night.  Postponing the swim meet in San Antonio until next week.  Don't necessarily like that, but have to admit the snow is rather pretty.  Here is a shot taken in my backyard this morning with my Macro lens.

Day 374 - Baby it's Cold Outside

It is expected to be around 18 degrees tonight, and we are expecting snow....in Austin, Texas.
May the meet go on tomorrow in San Antonio, and I hope we are there!

Day 373 - Curious Cat Meets Speedlight

This morning before work I was taking some pictures of my cats with my SB600 Speedlight placed in different positions.  Beau was quite cooperative until one of the flashes caught her interest and there she was infront of it before I could stop the flash.  Cute picture. 

I love the eyes in the shot below.  She has such an expressive face.
